I worked with Cassius and Juel on this game.  To play the game 2 players found a word from the maths word game,  then had to give a clue to the person trying to  figure out the math word who was sitting with their back to the other players. 

Illusions with light

LI: To know about the illusions in light. 

This week we learn all about  Illusion in light  as a part of our inquiry lesson. We first learned about the different parts in our eye and their roles which are the iris, eyelashes, eyelids and eyeball. Dog Trainer / Career

L.I  To explore a career that interests me.

I took the career Quest quiz to help me find a career that interests me. At the end the three options I chose were Dog Trainer,Teacher and Primary school teacher. This DLO shows how much and what the job involves so I can be a Dog trainer. 

Food Technology

Today at Tech we made sagwala with Mrs Heka. Sagwala is a spinach curry and it tastes delicious! I'm going to ask my mum if we can make this at home together. If you would like to make sagwala at home the recipe is on my DLO. You can add meat like lamb to this curry as well.

Statistical Investigation: Kowhaiwhai designs

LI: To carry out a statistical investigation across PBS to find the most popular kawhaiwahi design.

Our group worked collaboratively to carry out a statistical investigation to help Miss Pryde choose the winning kowhaiwhai design for our PBS Te Reo blog. When we asked the students the designs on the DLO were the most popular. If you click on the link you will see all the kowhaiwhai designs our class created.

LI: To make veggie noddles . 

At  tech we  have a new  tech   teacher and her name was Mrs Tuipunlotu . I was collaborating with Vayan  to help make us split our veggie noddles  my hard part is cutting the broccoli  but  I made  we added vegetable and noddles  it  Taste delicious.

Food Technology

LI: To make chicken with salad and rice.

At Tech we made salad with chicken and rice and it tasted delicious. I worked with Vayan and my job was to cut and cook the chicken. Cooking the chicken was easy because I had practised using the frying pan when we make hotcakes. This is the recipe we used. I really liked it because it was colourful and healthy. Mrs Anderson was away so we didn't take any photos of the food, but it looked like this.

Maths Strategy

LI: To find the most efficient strategy

This week our group practiced finding the answer to written maths questions. To do this we needed to first find the numbers we were working with. We decided the most efficient strategy was to use our times table knowledge. Being able to find how many groups of a number made this strategy efficient. This activity showed me that I need to keep practicing skip counting because I am still learning to do this.

The Protest March

LI: To read the information in the text, think about what you have read and form an opinion  

We read the story ‘The Protest March’ then made connections between what is happening in the world now. We used the information in the story and our prior knowledge to help us form an opinion.

How to make hot cakes

LI: To structure and write a procedural text

For writing we have been learning how to write a procedural text. To do this we used the recipe we followed at Tech. This procedure tells the reader how to make hot cakes. Before we wrote this we worked collaboratively to order the pictures Mrs Anderson took of us making the hotcakes. Once we had done that we matched each photo with a verb. A verb is an action word and tells anyone following the recipe what they need to do. After that we use the verbs as sentence starters and collaboratively wrote a list of instructions.

how animals protect themseves

For reading we were learning about How Animals Protect themselves. We made a list of interesting facts and any new or important words to help us. This DLO shows 3 interesting facts I found. I also learned

From Elephant Dung to Paper

We were reading about how Elephant Dung is made into Paper. In Thailand and Sri Lanka Paper Makers collect the elephant dung in sacks and then put it into a boiler to clean it.  A machine rolls it thinly and the paper is made.

PBS Livestream Assembly

Today we all watched our livestream assembly in our classrooms. During L4 lockdown PBS had a livestream assembly every Friday so that we could come together as a school online. I like our assemblies, especially when the kids get certificates. I got mine certificate last week.

Food Technology - Hotcakes

LI:  To follow a recipe to make hot cakes.

Today I make hotcakes and they tasted very nice.  I am really proud of myself because I this was the first time I have made hotcakes and the first time I used a frying pan.

Cityscape of Paris

L.I to write a description of my cityscape using prepositions

The Eiffel Tower is the tallest monument in the Paris cityscape. Beside the Eiffel tower on the far left is the Arc de Triomphe. High up on the hill is a very famous church called Sacre Coeur. On the right hand side of the Eiffel Tower is another famous cathedral called Notre Dame. Unfortunately 

this caught on fire in 2018. For my background I used cold colours and added black to  make the colours darker. Purple ,blue ,and light blue

Certificate

Last week I got a certificate for working hard and asking questions. I tried really hard to blog all my work and I'm proud I got this certificate.
