Today we learnt about the olympic people who won the medals in 2021.  they have won and there are very happy  get medals  they try very hard to acivte it  and to do they best they can . and we leraned about the olympic  .

Current event

 LI: To find the important information in a current event

     

This week for Reading we learnt about author's purpose. Authors write for a purpose/reason. These reasons are to Persuade, Inform, Explain or Entertain (PIE).First we looked at Kiwi Kids News to find a article. Then, we made a copy of the Current Events DLO and answered these questions:What is the article about?When the article was created?Where was the article was made?Why the author wrote the article?How it was made?Why do you think the author wanted you to learn from the article?

I found this activity very intestinbg because i found new thing about it

Our group has been focusing on consider both perspectives. Perspectives means a different points of view. Our group has been gathering information of our topic whether it is true or not.The topic was about sacred spots from Maori mythology.One of the myths our group decided to chose was Waipoua forest,Waipoua forest is the creation story of Tane Mahuta creating the Earth by lying between his parents Papatuanuku mother earth and Ranginui the sky father.Tane Mahuta pushed and stretched his parents apart to fight for the light and space for him and his siblings.Something we found interesting about our task given was exploring our researching skills to find the evidence that is true and not about the myth we have chosen above.

main ldeas

For reading we have been focusing on the Maui and Sun story.Our task was to identify the main ideas in the text.Our information we have gathered together is our opinions we have mixed together to create a more explained main ideas.Something we learnt from this activity is to read the text and identify all the different main ideas we might find important to vital.Something we found interesting about this activity is being able to identify the main ideas of a text.

Book week

 

LI: To celebrate reading  

Today we had book week we had to dress up in our favourite  characters  and even we had to make motivated our self we saw spiderman and we learn form him he made us laugh and he ask us his question and we answer his question then he tell one of the student to stand up and said the magic word to make him dance.

Summary of Treaty of Waitangi

LI: To explain in fewer words what the text was about .

 The  Treaty of Waitangi started when the british first arrived to New Zealand and the background behind Treaty of Waitangi was the Maori Chief was trying to get the treaty signed from the Maori chiefs 

Something we found interesting was the New Zealand war between the Maori and Pakeha

Exploring our national current events

LI: To identify author’s purpose.

These reasons are to persuade, inform or entertain (PIE). Each day, newspaper editors around the world must make decisions about which stories they will run when we explored the different types of current events that are happening in New Zealand, thought about why the story made the news and plotted the location on a google map. For the current events i collaborated with Haylee , Sakina , Azatulah and Leroy we asked questions and combined our ideas together to create our national current events and we strolled through kiwi kids news and other news websites to get more information that links to the 12 information of the news we had to complete . Something i found interesting was working with others i dont know and getting the help i needed .

Provocation: Should masks be compulsory on NZ public transport?

 LI: To identify and consider the two perspectives of this provocation to help me form an opinion.

My DLO above shows should mask  be compulsory  in NZ public transport and why . I worked collaborative with Pouvi and we discussed our thinking so we can put all our thinking together and create a DLO that shows others about ,our thinking and learning and how we can keep each other safe from Covid-19 , Something i found interesting was hearing about other peoples thinking and that made me more confident about sharing my ideas and my learning . I think how to keep other people safe is by hand sanitising and wear a mask if you are sick so you dont spread your germs aroudn to other people . 

 

The embarrassment

LI .To identify the  main idea in the poem                                                                                                                                                                    Today we make a DLO about the embarrassment and and write about it and we write about the  main idea of the  embarrassment and we get  the information from the story and add  more words to understand the poem and how the poem made sense.I liked that they showed us secret techniques to hide your embarrassment. 

Duff books in school .

Today we got 2 new duffy books and I was so happy to get my duffy books because I would ge to read them at home. The 2 books I chose were The homeless Kitten and The Ice Enchantment. The homeless Kitten was written by Holly Webb and it was illustrated by Sophy William. The Ice Enchantment was written by Danelle Star but I couldn't who the illustrator was. Thank Duffy for all my books and I will enjoy reading and learning from them at home.

LI: To retell True Story of the 3 Little Pigs in my own words

Today my group read the True Story of the 3 Little Pigs. After listening to the story we used the retelling pathway to help us retell the main events in pairs. My favourite part was when the wolf went to the first pigs house and accidentally blew the house down.
